Races: a run for everyone!

O'Gara's Irish Run 8K

O'Gara's 8K is run on a USATF certified course along Selby Avenue in St. Paul. The race has served as the USATF Minnesota 8K championship for the past 3 years. This is a competitive event and there is a time limit for completion. Participants must be able to maintain a 12.5 minute per mile pace.

O'Gara's Irish Run 5K

O'Gara's 5K is also run on a USATF certified course along Selby Avenue in St. Paul. It is a fun, family friendly event and costumes are encouraged.

O'Gara's Irish Run Kids Half Mile

The day starts with the Kids Half Mile which is run out and back on Selby. Every participant receives a medal at the finish.

Race Details

Start Time

8K Time Limit

Participants must be able to maintain a 12.5 minute per mile pace in the 8K. Any participant not reaching the 5K turnaround by 10:22 a.m. will be instructed by race officials to turn and complete the 5K.

Race Headquarters

For 2019 our race headquarters will be at Whole Foods located at Snelling and Selby in St. Paul. Here you will find packet pick-up, warm-up clothes drop, refreshments, and our post race gathering.

Location

All events are run out and back on Selby Avenue. The start/finish line is on Selby between Snelling and Saratoga.

Parking

Parking is available on the residential streets in the neighborhood. Please do not park in the Whole Foods parking lot. We will be using portions of this area for race activities and we need to reserve the remainder for Whole Foods customers. Please note when you are coming to the race that Selby Avenue will be closing approximately 9:15 a.m. so plan your route accordingly.

Packet Pickup

The Packet Pickup schedule will be posted in February, 2019.

Timing

Ogara's 8K and 5K feature chip timing by Mtec Results. Runners are individually timed and receive both gun and chip (net) time results. The Kids Half Mile is a fun run and there will be a clock at the finish line.

Awards

Cash Awards of $80, $65, and $45 go to first, second, and third overall male and female winners in the 8K. In the 5K the overall male and female winners will receive gift cards. Door prizes are available to all participants - check your packet when you pick it up.

Course Rules - Safety

To enhance the runner experience and ensure everyone has a safe race, no strollers or pets are permitted in the 8K or 5K races. Runners may wear headphones if they choose. However, please note that you must be able to hear the instructions of race officials at all times during the race. Please adjust volumes accordingly.
